Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide support in the oversight of a successful NCAA DII volleyball program.
  • Coach assigned players, units, or skill positions in the skills necessary to excel.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which volleyball is conducted at all times when athletes are present, adhere to a highly efficient and technically sound program of injury prevention and follow up.
  • Assist with the recruitment and development of student-athletes who will successfully represent the institution academically, athletically and socially.
  • Attend to details to effectively act on policies necessary and appropriate for managing NCAA, Gulf South Conference and institutional related compliance.
  • Commitment to a positive student-athlete experience.
  • Work closely with the department staff to schedule events and facility usage.
  • Monitor student-athlete's academic progress to ensure eligibility and student success.
  • Assist with and supervise strength and conditioning program(s) in partnership with the Strength & Conditioning designee.
  • Assist with management of all program budgets, travel, scheduling and purchasing, in line with the guidelines provided by the athletic department and the Office of Financial and Administrative Services.
  • Assist with fundraising and community outreach events.
  • Additional responsibilities to be assigned by the Head Volleyball Coach or Director of Athletics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the following:
  • NCAA Division II and Gulf South Conference rules and regulations
  • Sport-specific techniques
  • Institutional policies, practices and procedures
  • Recruiting and compliance-related documentation
Ability to:
  • Successfully lead, recruit and manage people
  • Execute strong interpersonal skills
  • Make oral and written presentations
  • Apply acceptable teaching, coaching and mentoring techniques
  • Counsel and advise pre-college and college student-athletes within established rules and expectations
  • Research and analyze data and reports
  • Manage budgets
  • Operate audio/video equipment and video editing equipment
  • Maintain and upkeep a college volleyball facility, locker room, and equipment
  • Administer First Aid, CPR and AED
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution and two years of experience coaching or playing volleyball at the collegiate level
  • Valid driver's license
  • As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set force by the NCAA Division II and the conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable rules.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
