Part-Time Student Math Aide- Math Map- FY 2024

Job Description

Position Summary

Peer Math Aide - a part time student employee - who will be assisting the El Mapa Matematico/Math Map (Title V) Department with:

o 15 hours weekly, per semester.

o Experience in MATH 120, MATH 124, MATH 126 - passed with a B or better.

o Assist students and math faculty remotely via online platforms for online courses.

o Attend Mapa co-requisite courses weekly and provide support to Math Faculty and students.

o Provide tutoring for assigned Mapa enhanced Math course.

o Lead/Facilitate workshops pertaining to personal and career development.

o Collect questionnaire after each workshop and report back to Mapa Math Navigators/Coordinators.

o Work closely and report back weekly to Mapa Math Navigators/Coordinators.

o Help prepare students for La Cumbre, Math summit at end of year.

Minimum Qualifications :

o Must have successfully completed embedded class requirement with a B or better .

o Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

o Knowledge of tutoring and teaching techniques.

o Experience working with diverse student populations.

o Experience working with students with a range of math needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

o Spanish speaking preferred.

o Online tutoring experience.

o Experience planning/implementing of student workshops.

Pay Rate

$14.00 Hourly
