Job Summary

The Information Technology Manager is responsible for operations of IT and media services (audiovisual technology) at the College of Law. Contributes to IT strategy within the College of Law and implements systems and policies, maintains IT infrastructure, provides support to College of Law stakeholders, manages subordinate staff and the day-to-day IT needs of the College of Law, establishes priorities and projects/plans, assigns functions, maintains performance and quality control, and reports to senior management on College of Law IT plans, projects, performance, and other related matters.
  • Manages the day-to-day client support operations to support faculty, staff, and students. Responsible for maintaining staff day to day and weekly schedules and coordinates appropriate coverage. Maintains staff performance, preparation of weekly reports, support procedures and appropriate documentation.
  • Responsible for managing assigned projects they are accountable for. Develops the scope, deliverables, and ongoing communication to College of Law administration and FIU Division of IT. Provides status updates on projects regularly or as directed. Oversees and provides day-to-day technical guidance to personnel and stakeholders by developing and improving their skills in supporting client applications and hardware.
  • Ensures all service requests are maintained in appropriate work queues and completed within established contracts, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. Develops and enforces request handling and escalation policies and procedures. Handles escalated requests and works to resolve them including technical troubleshooting and/or implementation. Drives as needed to perform duties, to provide IT support.
  • Manages College of Law IT and media services budget in conjunction with the College of Law Sr. Director of Finance and Administration.
  • Collaborates with other departments to identify computing and software needs. Evaluates new technologies and applications and makes recommendations for procurement based on organizational needs. Acts as a point of contact for vendors in the procurement of technologies.Manages and communicates and coordinates with personnel for exam support, proactively tests exam software applications and hardware compatibility. Analyzes and develops procedures that outline how problems are identified, documented, assigned and corrected.
  • Coordinates and monitors hardware and software deployments, including asset management. Coordinates audit of IT assets. Collaborates in the development of appropriate training initiatives for new and existing staff. Oversees and coordinates site readiness for deployment of hardware and software.
  • Responsible for system administration. Administers Microsoft and other digital services used in the College of Law, including maintenance of application management, software updates, deployment packages, Operating Systems, task sequences, and scripts. Liaises with Division of IT and Human Resources on implementing FIU policies relating to remediating and mitigating technology vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Oversees stakeholders' computers and media equipment to ensure installed applications and Operating Systems are kept up to date. Administration of subordinate mobile device management policies, configuration profiles, restricted software, patch management, pre-stage enrollment, and groups.
  • Develops and updates documentation of IT workflows, practices, protocols, procurement histories, and plans.Manages and updates College of Law listservs and College of Law IT website content.
  • Provides technical assistance to the Assistant Dean of Career Services, to the (Senior) Associate Dean of Enrollment Management and/or Experiential Learning and to the clinic and experiential practice of the College of Law, and other College of Law-specific digital management systems and software. Troubleshoots and provides secondary technical support for College of Law-owned and -managed endpoint devices and installed software.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and four (4) years of related experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leading or managing a team.
  • Knowledge of Windows OS, Mac OS, iOS, endpoint management, mobile device management and productivity applications.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS.
  • Experience with using an automated ticketing system for service request reporting, tracking, escalation, and closing tickets.
  • Experience with using LSAC
  • Experience with using Symplicity or similar career services office management software.
  • Experience with law practice management software.
