Senior Manager, Programming and Streaming Channels
USA TODAY NETWORK/Gannett is seeking a Senior Manager, Programming and Streaming Channels
to report to the Senior Director of Streaming Channels, who will primarily be responsible for developing and implementing the programming and scheduling strategies as well as partner marketing plans for USA TODAY’s streaming channels.
Over the last 5 years, Gannett has made significant inroads establishing video distribution partnerships with leading streaming services and social platforms. We program and operate two, 24-hour streaming channels, USA TODAY News and USA TODAY Sports, which are available on popular devices such as Roku, Amazon Fire, and smart TVs. We are also one of the largest news and sports syndicators through our USA TODAY and sports enthusiast brands.
This role can sit in New York, Tysons, VA, Los Angeles or San Francisco or can be fully remote.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Senior Director and Video Production teams on defining programming objectives and lead all aspects of content scheduling.
- Build and maintain partnerships with streaming platform partners’ content and marketing teams.
- Leverage first party and external data on audience trends to develop successful content strategies that optimize the performance of the streaming channels.
- Collaborate with the larger Gannett organization, partnering with the Newsroom, Video Production, Marketing and PR, Insights, and Operations teams to create a best-in-class viewing experience.
- Screen and review content catalog and production slate to develop and maintain programming expertise and fluency.
- Develop stunt and tentpole programming calendars for distribution to relevant internal and external partner stakeholders.
- Track performance and regularly provide programming and promotion performance updates to senior executives.
- Learn new software and practices to increase efficiency and quality.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in programming within a digital or media organization.
- Experience working in multiple content management systems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working with video and content teams with an understanding of the video marketplace.
- Strong data literacy with experience using analytic tools such as Tableau.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
- Proven experience leveraging data to support programming decisions.
- Must be Organized, Detail and Deadline-Oriented.
- Collaborative personality is a must.
- Ability to work either remotely OR in-office and must be capable of and willing to travel about 25%.
