Position, Department: Warehouse/Postal Services Associate, Operations

Type of Position: Part-time Regular, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Hours Vary, 25 hours per week

Pay Range: $16.50-$20.63 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: This position performs various central receiving, warehouse, postal, and logistical functions, including receiving and shipping merchandise and processing appropriate documentation; sorting, loading, and moving materials; making deliveries and pick-ups on and off campus; serving as support for asset inventory, surplus property and college archives; receiving, delivering, picking up, and processing of mail and parcels; and performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent required. Minimum of one year of related work experience required. Ability to work fluently within various types of software (BANNER, including function-specific modules; word processing; database; spreadsheet; custom applications) required. Knowledge of USPS processes and procedures preferred. Strong organizational skills; ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously; flexibility required. Commitment to accuracy; attention to detail required. Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse college community required. Effective interpersonal skills; ability to diffuse conflict required. Ability to work under pressure required. Valid driver's license required. Driving record acceptable to college insurance company required. Ability to lift 70 pounds routinely and operate material handling equipment (hand-trucks and powered heavy equipment) required. Ability to perform substantial amount of standing and/or walking required. Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse college community required.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • This position performs various central receiving, warehouse, postal, and logistical functions, including receiving and shipping merchandise. sorting, loading, and moving materials; making deliveries and pick-ups on and off campus; serving as support for asset inventory, surplus property and college archives and other duties as assigned Performance is acceptable when a. Receive, inspect, and accept shipments and ensure goods are consistent with purchase orders and free of damage or defects and deliver merchandise to all areas of the college and process appropriate documentation. Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet stackers, pallet jacks, carts, etc.) to load, unload, and move materials. b. Pickup college's mail from United States Postal Service facility and bring to Postal Services' area on campus for processing. Process and prepare college's outgoing mail, expedited mail and parcels, international mail and parcels, non-profit mailings using appropriate processes including appropriate documentation, then deliver to United States Postal Service for mailing c. Provide support for surplus property activities including collection, storage and organization, tracking, distribution within the college, and assisting with auctions.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to clients and maintaining appropriate documentation within systems utilized by department/division. Performance is acceptable when: a. Exemplary customer service is demonstrated through cooperative working with internal and external customers in day-to-day operation of receiving and processing order requests. Assist faculty and staff in defining needs and developing alternative solutions as required. Communicate and advise departments on proper policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Quickly and efficiently answers questions, resolving issues and/or places in contact with appropriate staff and/or supervisor(s) for further assistance b. Maintain data and enter in Banner system for creation of receiver or documents. Enter related data in appropriate databases and spreadsheets, as well as create databases and spreadsheets as necessary Update data logs and file documents, including electronically imaging documents according to procedures for tracking received goods, fixed asset inventory, and various other reports/records. c. Provide support for fixed asset inventory including data entry, preparation of fixed asset tags and related documentation, tagging of fixed assets, and assisting with periodic physical inventories. Coordinate functions such as storage, tracking, retrieving, and securing of college archives
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively multitask and maintain high levels of service, support, and organization for Warehouse/Postal service responsibilities. Performance is acceptable when: a. Work area, including; physical space, workflow, filing systems, information and data is maintained in a well-organized and efficient manner. b. Perform duties in compliance with all safety standard and guidelines and identify and avoid potential hazards c. Time is well utilized constructively and efficiently to ensure that all updates, notifications, completed tickets, communications, filing and organizing completed and area maintained. Use open time to further skill/expertise development with programs and systems used for operation. d. Punctual in attendance, entering data in MIS system. Participate in cross-training within department and perform other duties as assigned
