Quaker Steak & Lube® Front of House - Host Job Description
Purpose: Provide friendly, accurate and efficient service to Guests in a safe and clean restaurant that consistently provides superior service and serves the long-term interests of the Company through established principles, proper procedures, sound business judgment and meeting or exceeding standards.
- Knows and follows safety guidelines and reports potentially unsafe situations
- Displays a positive attitude.
- Ensures the work area and equipment is clean and sanitized at all times.
- Willingly helps other Team Members when needed.
- Upholds company and brand standards.
- Notifies manager of positive and negative feedback from Guests.
- Follows all security procedures. Is alert to possible shoplifters, walkouts etc.
- Greet Guests as they enter/exit the building & control the flow of Guest seating.
- Understands the Steps of Service, From the Green Flag to the Checkered Flag.
- Always portrays an enthusiastic FRANK attitude.
- Guides Guests to an appropriate table and demonstrates “talking while you walk”
- Cleans and restocks restrooms every 30 minutes.
- Vacuums/sweeps the floor to maintain cleanliness.
- Communicates with other Host Team to ensure the continuous seating flow
- Determines when and knows how to begin a “Wait”.
- Records proper Guest information on a waiting list.
- Properly accommodates handicapped, elderly Guests & children
- Makes Servers aware of any special requests at their tables.
- Handles Guests complaints in a professional manner
- Able to work the POS system and seating systems efficiently.
- Maintains Host retail drawer money in accordance with sales.
- Helps out when needed to get initial drink order for Guests or refill beverages
- Completes all opening, running and closing side works.
- Gets checked out by management before leaving the building.
Physical Requirements / Qualifications:
· Lift and carry cases of food, supplies and equipment up to a weight of 50 pounds.
· Frequently bend, stoop and reach in order to stock food, service Guests, and maintain equipment. Must be able to use arms above head/shoulder level.
· Climb a ladder or “step-up” to reach supplies stored in overhead areas.
· Stand/walk for shifts up to eight hours (short breaks are provided throughout the shift).
· Operate all department equipment.
· Read and write.
· Communicate effectively with Guests and Team Members.
· High school graduate or equivalent is preferred
· Able to relate well with people.
