Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Repetitive computer work. Occasional field work for site visits which require hiking on rough terrain.

Job Summary

The Kentucky Geological Survey, a research center within the University of Kentucky, is seeking a Geologist I to fill a two-year grant-funded position. The Geologist I will be responsible for processing high-resolution topographic data to map sinkholes, verifying mapped sinkholes in the field, and assessing karst and sinkhole risk. Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro software is required for this position. Attention to detail, safety, courtesy, and communication are a must. The person in this position will have the opportunity to increase their professional skills, training, and participate in collaborative geologic research. This position will report to the KGS main campus location.

Required education/experience: BS in geology or related field, geologic field camp or equivalent field training, ArcGIS, valid driver's license for at least 5 years.

Preferred education/experience: knowledge in karst hydrology and geohazard, Matlab, Python, MS Office.
