Job Description

The Lin Brain Lab at the University of Missouri (MU) focuses on developing pharmacological and nutritional interventions to prevent or mitigate Alzheimer's disease (AD), particularly in individuals genetically predisposed to the condition. Our research also delves into the microbiome's role in brain function during aging and AD, encompassing animal studies and clinical applications to bring laboratory discoveries directly to patient care. Our research harnesses a broad spectrum of advanced technologies. We employ cutting-edge magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) to assess brain structure, blood flow, and metabolism. Additionally, we apply shotgun metagenomics sequencing, metabolomics, and artificial intelligence to explore the gut-brain axis.

The Lin Lab is seeking a Research Lab Supervisor who will oversee the day-to-day lab management, and coordinate with other lab members to support research activities. Other work requirements involve supporting Dr. Lin for grant, manuscript, and protocol writings. The Research Lab Supervisor will be directly supervised by Dr. Lin, and occasionally needs to supervise new lab members.

Position responsibilities include but not limited to:
Research Support to the Lab:
  • Maintain and ensure proper functioning of lab machinery and inventory.
  • Procure lab supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with other lab members to conduct experiments.
Animal Colony Management:
  • Conduct regular checks on animal colonies.
  • Generate health reports and ensure compliance with ethical standards.
  • Manage specialized diets for animals.
  • Oversee breeding operations.
Compliance and Communication:
  • Interact and coordinate with the Office of Animal Research (OAR) to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Data Organization and Protocol Development:
  • Organize and manage data accurately and clearly.
  • Develop protocols and work with regulatory bodies (IRB, IBC, ACUC) for compliance.
Training:
  • Provide training to new or junior lab members on procedures and protocols.
Budget Management Support:
  • Assist Dr. Lin in tracking expenses related to grants and other funding sources.

Shift

Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., occasional nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $50,367.00 – $70,000.00 per year
