This position provides opportunity for pharmacotherapy outcomes research scholarly activity in a research-intensive, interdisciplinary health sciences center.

The Department of Pharmacotherapy is seeking to fill a 12-month, Tenure Track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Professor, salary commensurate with qualifications and experience plus benefits will be provided. We are a dynamic department with faculty pursuing diverse research agendas, all within the overarching disciplines of health technology assessment and health economics and outcomes research. The successful candidate will be expected to build and maintain a research program funded through extramural grants, teach in the PharmD and PhD programs, and provide service through committee involvement at department, college, university & national levels. The ideal candidate will possess a documented research record, grant writing experience, as well as a strong commitment to and demonstrated competence in teaching.

The University of Utah, College of Pharmacy is located in the state-of-the-art L.S. Skaggs Research Institute and is part of University of Utah Health, an umbrella health sciences center encompassing a wide scope of clinical and research enterprises. The College of Pharmacy is ranked among the top five in terms of National Institutes of Health research productivity and in the top twenty list of PharmD programs in the nation. The department has a unique mix of clinical, research and tenured faculty to support the training of professional and graduate students. Faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with practicing clinicians and health services researchers in the Pharmacotherapy Department and across University of Utah Health Sciences Campus in the Departments of Family and Preventive Medicine, Pediatrics, Population Health Sciences, the Program in Personalized Health Care, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Department of Economics and various other academic departments. University of Utah Health also has an NIH funded Center of Clinical and Translational Science ( CCTS) and numerous core facilities. The environment is highly conducive for interdisciplinary and translational research.

A PhD in a health services research-related field with experience in pharmacy or pharmaceutical outcomes research (e.g., Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Health Policy, Comparative Effectiveness Research, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research) is required. A clinical doctorate degree (MD or PharmD) or experience with outcomes research in clinical settings (e.g., fellowship at health care institution) is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to work with other health professionals in an interdisciplinary environment are required. Experience specific to the profession of pharmacy and the ability to work within interdisciplinary teams consisting of Tenure, Clinical, and Research Track faculty, along with PhD/PharmD students and post-doc fellows is preferred.
