The first step of follow-up starts when you ask your interviewer for a business card. In most interviews these days, you will be interviewed by multiple interviewers. In such case get business cards from all the interviewers.
-
It is highly recommended that you send a Thank you letter to the interviewers on the same day or within two business days thanking them for their time and reminding them about your key skills and interest in the position. You must remember though, that while sending emails, keep it formal and always send individual and separate mails to each of those interviewers on the panel.

The next step is always a phone call. This phone conversation should be short and straight stating your continued interest and reminding your positive points. You can avoid making phone calls if you are getting regular responses for your emails. You can also alternate between sending email and making a phone call.
-
Never think that you are bothering the interviewer by trying to contact them frequently for follow-up. it is a regular process after the job interview and everyone understands this. somethimes employers are in fact waiting for the candidates to follow-up. but this does not mean that you can attack them with emails. -
Interviewers interview many candidates for different position so it t is always advisable to use date of interview and position name in your letter so that it is easier for the interviewer to identify you.
Be brief in your follow-up letter and to the point, highlighting your qualifications once more. You will find that the interviewers are very impressed with this gesture and you will definitely be in the running. A job interview with a follow-up letter is the best way to turn tables in your favor. Also make sure you are not contacting Hiring Managers for some of the benefits or salary questions. If you have any questions regarding company policies, it is always good to follow up with HR in those matters.
